How Weekly Challenge works
Every week brings one Blockfall challenge. All participants receive the same seed, rules and deadline, and the leaderboard keeps each player’s best server-verified score.
One challenge, comparable conditions
A Weekly Challenge belongs to a fixed calendar-week period. It stores a title, visual theme, engine version, ruleset and server-generated seed. A browser cannot ask for an easier board while remaining inside the same weekly event.
Rules can alter gravity, time limits, rising garbage, rotations or other existing Blockfall options. The active weekly page shows the exact rules before play. This general guide does not hardcode a reward because themes and reward packages belong to the active event data.
Entering and making attempts
A verified AREN8 account is required. It connects the run to one player, enables recoverable sessions and prevents anonymous scores from entering a public competition. Classic and Journeys remain available to guests, but Weekly Challenge is deliberately account-based.
You can make repeated attempts during the active week. The leaderboard uses your highest verified score, not the total of all attempts. An unfinished session must be resumed or explicitly abandoned before another is created.
Saving a result
The game records inputs and their simulation timestamps, then submits them with the session token, engine version and ruleset identity. The server checks ownership, event deadline, checkpoint continuity and whether the run reached a legal end state.
The server then replays the full run with the same seed and rules. Its calculated score enters the leaderboard. A mismatched version, rules hash, timeline or input sequence is rejected without replacing an earlier valid personal best.
Leaderboard, rewards and replays
The weekly page offers global and friends views. Finished weeks remain visible through history. When a verified replay is available, the top three runs can be reconstructed from their recorded inputs instead of relying on a manually uploaded video.
The current reward package is displayed from server configuration. Rewards can grant AREN8 progression items, but they do not alter the rules of the run that is being ranked. Journey power-ups are not available in Weekly Challenge.
What the weekly event measures
A shared seed does not preselect everyone’s moves. Players still decide position, rotation, timing and risk. Comparability comes from the common starting contract and the server’s independent calculation of the outcome.
Weekly Challenge is AREN8’s recurring competitive centre: long enough to learn a particular setup, short enough to reset regularly. Classic and Journey provide meaningful practice between events.
Frequently asked questions
Can I play Weekly Challenge without an account?
No. A verified account is required for a recoverable, public competitive result.
Does everyone receive exactly the same pieces?
Sessions for one week share the same seed, engine version and rules. The later board state depends on each player’s own inputs.
Does a later attempt overwrite a better score?
No. The leaderboard keeps the best server-verified score for that player and week.
