◆ LockedAREN8 Journeys
Journey is the persistent progression mode for Blockfall and Colorfall. It teaches mechanics step by step and provides clear goals between competitions without changing competitive fairness.
Two games, two separate journeys
Blockfall Journey has ten chapters and 255 levels. It expands shape placement with changing speed, designed opening boards, concrete obstacles, rising rows, limited rotations and other existing rules. Colorfall Journey has thirteen chapters and 350 levels, combining matches with collection goals, blockers and special pieces.
Progress is separate for each game. The map shows locked and open chapters, best score, earned stars and the state of a miniboss or boss crate. A later chapter opens through the previous one, and locked chapters do not reveal every future stage in advance.
Stars, score and progress
Each level can award up to three stars. The first represents the required completion condition; further stars follow published score thresholds. Replaying can improve score or stars, but a worse result does not overwrite stronger existing progress.
Journey is not the same as Weekly Challenge or Tournament. Journey is a sequence of progression puzzles where account power-ups may be used. Competitive modes use shared rules and do not accept Journey inventory as an advantage.
Sparks and power-ups
Verified Journey activity, daily and weekly missions and certain rewards can grant Sparks. Sparks are an in-game resource used to obtain Journey power-ups. Blockfall and Colorfall each offer assistance suited to their own mechanics.
Power-ups help a particular Journey attempt, such as extra moves or time, a shuffle, a hammer or a Colour Core in Colorfall and the corresponding Blockfall tools. They cannot alter Weekly or Tournament rankings.
Bosses and treasure crates
A SPECIAL or miniboss level can grant a small crate, while a BOSS level can grant a large one. The crate is awarded only for the first server-verified completion, not every replay. The map shows whether it is still available, earned or opened.
Crate contents are decided on the server and can include Sparks, Journey power-ups or cosmetics. Published odds explain rarity and duplicate handling. An avatar or name effect changes presentation, never the gameplay engine or ranking order.
A Journey started as a guest
You can start Journey without an account. A random guest identity is tied to that browser and the server stores its progress. Power-ups remain visible but locked, and account inventory and public rankings are unavailable.
Creating an account or signing in can claim the device’s guest progress. The merge is monotonic: stronger account progress is not reduced. Clearing browser data, using private browsing or changing devices can make unclaimed guest identity inaccessible.
Choose a mode by what you want the next game to teach
If you want to practise Blockfall placements without a particular level objective, use Classic. If a specific constraint needs work, read a Journey level’s preview: its opening board, timing and restrictions explain the exercise. For Colorfall, Classic provides a 30-move scoring run, while Journey asks you to solve the displayed level objectives. A large cascade can be satisfying but still leave the last required obstacle standing.
For example, after two stars on a Journey level you can replay it to improve your score without turning that result into a Weekly entry. The game, the level and the competition keep separate progress records. Equally, owning a helpful Journey power-up does not add it to a tournament’s allowed actions. Choose Weekly when you want repeated comparisons on the current shared challenge, and an individual tournament when you want to participate under that event’s published schedule and attempt rules.
Find and open the chests you have earned
Journey boss rewards and configured Weekly rewards can grant treasure chests to an account. Open Chests from your account navigation to see the actual chests you own. You can open an earned chest or keep it for later. A boss reward is tied to that boss level: repeatedly beating the same level does not create an unlimited supply of the same reward.
Journey chests can contain Sparks, cosmetics and supported power-ups. Weekly chests contain cosmetics and Sparks, not power-ups. A particular avatar or effect is not guaranteed merely because a chest can contain cosmetics. The reward-probability page explains the published pools. Check the revealed items, then visit your collection to use an unlocked cosmetic; receiving an item and equipping it are separate actions.
Use Sparks deliberately
Sparks are AREN8’s virtual game currency, separate from money in the wallet and manually paid tournament prizes. Journey star rewards and other displayed reward sources can add Sparks. Improving a level can improve your saved stars, but repeating the same achievement is not a promise of another identical reward. Check your actual balance and the offered item price before spending.
Journey tools are available through the game’s supported power-up controls for account holders. Choose a tool for the obstruction in front of you, not simply because you have enough Sparks. Buying or owning a tool does not make it legal in every mode: Weekly and Tournament play use their own competition rules. For a difficult level, first try a different opening or board plan; tools are an option, not a requirement to learn the game.
Frequently asked questions
Is Journey a competition?
It is primarily progression and learning. Journey leaderboards compare achievements, while Weekly and Tournament are separate shared-rule competitions.
Can I replay a level?
Yes. A replay can improve score and stars; a weaker result does not replace the better state.
Does every boss replay award another crate?
No. The crate entitlement for the same stable boss level is one-time per account.
Why did replaying a boss not give another chest?
The same boss reward is not granted repeatedly. Check your owned chests and the level’s reward state rather than expecting a new chest from every replay.
